Running into the world of freelancing was a completely new experience. I felt excited at the opportunity of deciding who to work for and when it would suit me.
After being made redundant in December, I said that I needed to put myself first! So I decided to go with my instincts and become a freelancer. Straight away I gave the portfolio a refresh and started to get myself out there. I’m not one to reflect on negativity but strongly believe that everything happens for a reason.
My first freelancing opportunity was for a company called En Route. Originally the job was only meant to be for two weeks. Which surprisingly turned into four! My initial hire was to snap the photography for the companies sales app. Afterwards I was tasked to design packaging concepts for Iceland Air. Working at En route was a real pleasure, plus being invited to their Christmas party was a true highlight and never have I felt so welcome into a company.
